[28] The Schellenberg Ice Cave Series

The ice cave is nested in around 1570 m altitude on Mount Untersberg in South East Bavaria. It extends over 3.6 kilometers in total. A small part of it is easily accessible, consisting of a large entrance hall, smaller passages, and two deeper halls. Climate change is currently taking a heavy toll on the ice, causing the ice volume in the cave to continuously decrease. The series showcases abstract shapes and structures in the ice, which is up to 3,000 years old.
